The Basics of Trampoline Ownership
![]() |
Are you interested in purchasing a trampoline for yourself or your family? There are many reasons why you might want to do this. Many families with children have trampolines -- kids love bouncing on them. But even if you don't have kids, you still might want one. Trampolines are a great way for kids and adults to stay fit and have fun at the same time. Bouncing on one of these pieces of equipment burns more calories and works your body more effectively than many people realize. Not only that, but they are a low-impact way to get a workout as compared with jogging or exercising on a hard surface.
There are different types of trampolines from which you can choose. The type you should select depends on your individual needs. Small trampolines are often called rebounders and are made for individual physical fitness. Rebounders are round and provide enough space for one person to jog or bounce in place. Maybe you're buying for a child or children. In this case, you'll need something larger. In general, kids will enjoy trampolines with more space than a small rebounder can provide.
For one or more children, you'll want to choose a model measuring between ten and fifteen feet. You'll find that there are square trampolines and round trampolines. While round trampolines distribute weight amongst the frame more effectively and often last longer, square trampolines are easier to fit into most yards. The shape that's best for you will depend on the dimensions of your yard and your personal preferences. Whichever shape you choose, make sure it is of good quality and has sturdy, strong springs.
Trampolines have different weight limits, so always take this into consideration when shopping for one. It's crucial for the safety of users that the weight limit not be exceeded. Always be sure to read and follow all instructions included with your trampoline and use as directed. Most models will come unassembled and need to be put together. Make sure you set up your trampoline on level ground and leave several feet of space around it in case users were to bounce or fall off. Instruct children on the safe use of trampolines and make sure they are supervised by an adult when bouncing. Trampolines can be a lot of fun and great exercise when they're used safely!
